With the theme of “Sharing Design-Utopia of Culture Makers”, the 2015 Milan International Culture Makers' Joint Design Exhibition unveiled at the La Fabbrica del Vapore, Milan, Italy.
In the evening of April 14, with the theme of “Sharing Design-Utopia of Culture Makers”, the 2015 Milan International Culture Makers’ Joint Design Exhibition unveiled at the La Fabbrica del Vapore in Milan, Italy.
At the opening ceremony of the exhibition, representatives from the Markor Home Furnishings, together with teachers and students from Hunan University, Sichuan Fine Arts Institute, Royal College of Art, University of London, Hongik University, as well as famous designers and artists including Yang Mingjie, Zhang Jun, Xiao Xiaoqiu, and Zhou Wei, explained the exhibits to the visitors. The exhibits are displayed as different groups and each group has their own theme, including “Taste China”, “New Handicraft”, “Creature Sculpture”, “Walking Fashion”, “Sensory Experience” and “New Channel”. The design works take advantage of new media technologies, smart hardware, and interactive technologies to demonstrate geographical and cultural characteristics of those works. Part of the exhibits are handmade by some Chinese local craftsmen, through which we aim to create more job opportunities and promote cultural and social innovation.
Guest speakers at the opening ceremony include Madam Tang Jing, Cultural Events Department of Centre of International Cultural Exchange, Mr. Marino Folin, curation consultant for Milano Expo, Madam Cristina Tajani, City of Milan’s Cabinet Member for Labour Policies, Economic Development, Universities and Innovation, Mr. Massimo Isola, Vice Mayor of Faenza, Madam Maria Christina Hamel from Milano Makers, Professor He Renke, Dean of School of Design from Hunan University and Professor Luo Li from Sichuan Fine Arts Institute all delivered passionate key-note speeches. More than 20 Italian media including Interni-China, Tecniche Nuove attended the opening ceremony and also conducted interviews with some of the designers. Sichuan Fine Arts Institute provides special snacks to the attendees from Chongqing.
